7 Days Best of Kenya Safari Big 5 Migration Adventure |
Overview
The 7 Days Best of Kenya Safari Big 5 Migration Adventure is our flagship experience, meticulously crafted for travelers who want to witness the full drama of the African wild. Specifically, this itinerary focuses on the world-renowned Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Amboseli ecosystems. Furthermore, by utilizing our specialized 4×4 Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs, we provide an unparalleled vantage point for photography and predator sightings. Consequently, this journey is not just a tour; it is a deep immersion into the heart of the Great Migration and the home of the legendary Big 5.
Witnessing the Great Migration and the Big 5
When you embark on the 7 Days Best of Kenya Safari Big 5 Migration Adventure, you are positioning yourself in the center of nature’s greatest spectacle. Initially, we focus on the Maasai Mara, where between July and October, millions of wildebeest and zebras brave the crocodile-infested rivers. Moreover, our silver-level guides are experts at tracking the resident predators—lions, leopards, and cheetahs—that follow the herds. Specifically, we prioritize early morning game drives when the light is perfect for capturing the raw beauty of a hunt. Therefore, your chances of witnessing the “Big 5” in action are significantly higher on this professionally guided circuit.
Detailed 7 Days Best of Kenya Safari Big 5 Migration Adventure Itinerary
Your 7-Day Best of Kenya Safari Big 5 Migration Adventure begins in Nairobi before heading into the Great Rift Valley. Initially, we explore the rhino sanctuaries of Lake Nakuru, famous for its birdlife and rare Rothschild giraffes. Moreover, the journey continues to the Maasai Mara for three nights of intensive wildlife viewing. Specifically, we coordinate your stay at premier lodges that prioritize both luxury and conservation. However, because we use private 4×4 Jeeps, we have the flexibility to stay out longer in the field. Instead of rushing back for lunch, we often provide bush picnics to maximize your time with the wildlife.
Luxury 4×4 Land Cruiser: The Best Way to Safari in Kenya
As a professional travel specialist, I emphasize that the vehicle is as important as the destination. Specifically, the terrain in the Mara and Amboseli requires the superior ground clearance and heavy-duty suspension of a custom-built 4×4 Land Cruiser. Instead of the bumpy experience of a standard minivan, our guests enjoy a dust-proof, air-cooled environment with high-quality binoculars and charging ports for cameras. Consequently, you arrive at each sighting feeling refreshed and ready to capture the perfect shot. Furthermore, our vehicles are maintained to the highest safety standards for the 2026 peak season.

Schedule Details
Day 1 Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park
The joint mass of Tsavo West and Tsavo East National Parks forms one of the largest National parks in the world and covers a massive 4% of Kenya’s total land area. Tsavo East is guarded by the limitless lava reaches of Yatta Plateau and is patrolled by some of the largest elephant herds.
Our safari leaves Mombasa or Nairobi at 6:45 am and drives north towards the vast wilderness of Tsavo East, Kenya’s oldest and largest park. You’ll be arriving at the lodge in good time for an early lunch after an introductory game in this park.
Spend the afternoon at leisure, then late in the afternoon at 4:30 pm, enjoy game viewing / exploring the park in search of elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, kudu, zebra and hartebeest.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Aruba Lodge or one of similar standards.
Meal plan: Lunch and dinner.
Day 2 Tsavo East to Tsavo West National Park
After breakfast, you’ll leave for Tsavo West National Park for lunch at Kilaguni Serena Lodge.
The most iconic attraction in the park is Mzima Springs. The crystal-clear water of this chain of lakes is filtered through the volcanic rocks of the Chyulu Hills just to the north. Shaded by majestic fig and acacia trees, the lakes swarm with fish, large crocodiles and some big pods of hippos.
The experience of being on safari in Tsavo West is very different from a safari in Tsavo East or a Masai Mara safari, where you often have views across the wide-open country. Tsavo West safaris are more about unexpected sights as you turn a bend on a wooded track.
The birdlife in the park is outstanding. If you’re on a birdwatching safari you’ll be knocked out by the number of sightings you have. The white-headed buffalo weaver is a particularly noticeable species, with its prominent bright red rump, and there are at least eight recorded hornbill species here.
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 3 Tsavo West National Park to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, you’ll have a game drive in the park including a visit to Mzima Springs where hippos, crocodiles and various species of fish can be seen in the crystal-clear waters. You’ll then proceed to Amboseli National Park with a picnic lunch en route. You’ll be arriving in good time for afternoon and evening game viewing in this park.
Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Amboseli Kibo Safari Camp.
Amboseli is the plains below Mount Kilimanjaro. The waters from melted snow drain down the mountain under lava flows and surface in Amboseli, creating a green belt of swampland amidst dusty plains. Here, hippo, elephant and bird life can be seen against the backdrop of the magnificent snow-capped mountain.
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 4 Amboseli National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park
After an early breakfast, we will depart Amboseli for Lake Nakuru National Park. Lunch will be served en route. The tour will then continue to Lake Nakuru National park only to arrive late in the afternoon.
Check-in and relax by cooling your body in the swimming pool if you so wish at no extra cost. Late in the evening at around 4:00 pm, proceed for a game viewing drive in this park which is 188sq km. It is best known for its thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos nesting along the shores.
The park has more than 25 eastern black rhinoceros, one of the largest concentrations in the country. There are also a number of Rothschild’s giraffes, relocated for safety from western Kenya from 1977. Waterbucks are very common and both Kenyan subspecies are found here. Among the predators are lions, cheetahs, and leopards, the latter being seen much more frequently in recent times.
The rest of the evening shall end at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge on a full board basis.
Day 5 Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru for Masai Mara National Reserve with lunch en -route. On arrival in Masai Mara, you’ll relax and after the sun has cooled down, proceed for a game drive in search of black-manned lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, and other plains game.
Later, you’ll return to Keekorok Lodge late in the evening for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 6 Maasai Mara National Reserve
Today you’ll have a full day set aside for game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Much game is coming to your doorstep when you are in the park. You only have the option of counting the blessings that nature holds for you as you view animals in their natural habitat.
Wherever you go in the vast Mara, you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests and wildebeests. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common.
The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti.
Your overnight stay is at the same lodge inside the park.
Day 7 Nairobi End of Safari
You’ll have an early morning game viewing sunrise in the savannah followed by a late breakfast. Thereafter, leisurely depart Masai Mara for Nairobi where this safari shall end in good time for your next holiday destination.
Note: This program is flexible and we can commence with the Masai Mara National Reserve and end in Mombasa if you opt to end your trip in the coastal region of Kenya at no extra cost.
