  2. Day 2 & 3: Masai mara

Two full-days set aside for game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. (From 06:30hrs to 17:30 hrs). Your morning and afternoon (full day) game drives take you in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange-tinged sunsets that make for spectacular photos.
Much game is coming at your doorstep when you in the park leaving you with the only option of counting your blessings that nature holds for you as you view them in their natural habitat.
The Mara Reserve covers 1510km² of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodlands, following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in southwest Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife.

Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara Park you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common.
The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October for the new life circle to begin after a life-threatening move across the strong jaws of East Africa crocodile found within the mara river and talek river.

Take it to the sky by taking hot-air balloon trips which are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife early in the morning. It is optional activity though worth doing it allows you to view the wildlife that you have not seen. The cost is 450 USD per person.

    •    Main destination: Masai Mara National Reserve
    •    Accommodation: Keekorok Lodge or similar standard

  3. Day 4: Masai mara to Lake Nakuru National park

Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya’s two Premium Parks and is a bird lover’s paradise. It surrounds Lake Nakuru, located in the Central Rift Conservation Area in the Southern Rift Valley region of Kenya. Originally protected as a bird sanctuary, this park hosts over 400 bird species, including 5 globally threatened species, and is an important stop on the African-Eurasian Migratory Flyway. This park was also the first national Rhino sanctuary and hosts one of the world’s highest concentrations of the Black Rhinoceros.

The journey to lake Nakuru National Park is relatively long though the roads are good. Arrive in good time for lunch and relaxation as we all wait for the sun to cool down before we take an afternoon game viewing in this park which relatively small in size (188 km2, 73 mi2), and supports a wide ecological diversity including Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds, and the Black and White Rhinoceros which are the major attractions of the area.

After your breakfast, you will have a morning game viewing session in lake Nakuru national park since your accommodation is right inside the park and we take advantage of this for a further game viewing this morning. Unlike those that opted for accommodations located outside the park that only has one entry ticket to lake Nakuru National Park.

This morning game viewing allows us to view flamingoes that this park is famous for apart from black and white rhinos, and other water birds like pelicans plains game like the cape buffalo giraffe and baboons not forgetting the Tree climbing lions. After three to four hours of game viewing in this park, we shall set off and drive safely for about an hour to hell’s gate national park (Lake Naivasha) for hot lunch and relaxation at the Naivasha Sopa lodge.

Afternoon at relaxation or visit Hells gate National Reserve, the only reserve in Kenya where you can enjoy game viewing while on a bicycle or by walking in the park between the wildlife (grass-eating animals).
If time is not a limiting factor, take a boat ride on this day otherwise you shall do it on the last day before heading to Nairobi. Boat ride in this freshwater lake (Lake Naivasha) is an optional activity and any fee is payable direct. It is a memorable experience as it will grant you a chance to view the aquatic life such as hippos and other bird species that have been recorded in this natural habitat. The rest of the evening will end at your preferred accommodation here in Naivasha booked on a full board basis.
